Brooklyn Center - Age 91, of Brooklyn Center, MN, was a life-long Minneapolis-area resident. William (Bill) and his wife, Ila Mae, raised five children. They also opened their home to foster children; providing a healing space for 100+ children; from newborns to teens.
Bill and his wife were camping enthusiasts; camping in MN state parks into their 80s. He also enjoyed watching his favorite MN teams, especially Gopher football with his children and grandchildren as long-time season ticket holders. His faith was foundational to how he lived; giving freely of his time and talents for church activities and leadership positions.
William is survived by his children: Steven (Sandra), Constance (Mark) Forrester, Bruce (Bonnie), Tim (Tami), Mary Kay Sampson; and grandchildren Justin, Erin Stoffel, Stephanie Hoyhtya, Joshua, Jacob, Nathaniel, Scott, Randall, Colleen, Logan, and McKenna; and great-grandchildren Sonora, Colten, Novalee, Hollis, Ophelia, William, Eli, Abigail, Ellie, Paisley, Jade, Isabella; and many nieces and nephews.
William was preceded in death by his wife, Ila Mae, his parents, George and Clarice Wendt, and brothers, Vernon and Gerald.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 17, at 11:00 AM (with visitation at 10:00 AM) at Peace Lutheran Church, 20 Northdale Blvd. NW, Coon Rapids, MN.
