Shorewood, MN - William "Bill" Grandy passed away peacefully on July 10, 2026 with his family by his side. He was 88 years old. Bill grew up in Sioux City, IA. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Jeanne, whom he first met when they were infants. He also leaves behind his three children Brandt Grandy (Allisun), John Grandy and Jana Graham; his ten grandchildren, who lovingly knew him as "Big Wally" and "Papa Mookie" —Finn Grandy, Mae Grandy, Zoe Grandy, Eli Grandy, Alexander Graham (Katia), Harrison Graham, Theodore Graham, Eloise Graham, Jack Clemons and Kate Clemons. He is also survived by his brother Fred Grandy. He was preceded in death by his parents Bonnie and Bill and his brother Jeff.

Bill was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend whose warmth, kindness and generosity touched countless lives. A man of enduring faith, he was a longtime parishioner of the Basilica of Saint Mary in Minneapolis and traveled extensively on church pilgrimages. Bill was an active golf, tennis, paddle tennis and bridge player. He loved classical music.

Bill was a successful banker in Minneapolis. He was a graduate of Phillips Exeter Academy. He attended Yale, Stanford and the University of Iowa where he received his MBA. He served on boards in the Twin Cities, including Orchestra Hall, Highcroft Country Day School and the Milkweed Press.

Bill will be remembered for his optimism, generosity, unwavering faith and the genuine interest he took in everyone he met. Private services will be held in the coming months and loved ones will be notified. Memorials please to the Basilica of Saint Mary Minneapolis and Ascension Catholic School.
