Olivia - age 92, of Olivia, MN passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at his home in Olivia. A memorial service will be on Friday, October 3, at 11:00 a.m. at Faith United Methodist Church in Olivia with Pastor Durene Cornell officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at a later date at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Arrangements are by Dirks-Blem Funeral Service of Olivia.

Bill was born Sept 5, 1933 in Dubuque, Iowa to Waldo Emerson and Ruth (Hauser) Burkhart. He grew up in Minneapolis and attended Minneapolis Southwest High School, graduating in 1952.

Bill is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joan (Vollmer) Burkhart; his two sons, Dan (Lisamarie) Burkhart of Shoreview, MN and Tom (Antoinette) Burkhart of Minneapolis; his four grandchildren: Noah, Emerson, Chrissy and CJ; his brother, Jim (Nancy) Burkhart of Clovis, CA; nephew, Dave (Sue) Newman of Minneapolis; and nieces, Martha Newman of Sheridan, WY and Susan (Troy) Wise of Clovis, CA. Preceded in death by parents, Waldo and Ruth Burkhart; sister, Nancy Newman; parents-in-law, Leonard and Ruth Vollmer; brother-in-law, Jim Vollmer; and beloved dog, Cody.
