Bloomington, MN - Wesley John Laseski, born June 14, 1935, passed away on May 31, 2026, at age 90. He passed away as he lived, surrounded by family and friends. A beloved man so full of life, optimism, energy, intensity, it was awe inspiring. An indomitable spirit. He is survived by many family and friends and community who loved him dearly.

From his modest childhood in Little Falls, Minnesota, Wes dreamed of seeing the world and believed in all the opportunity America holds, starting with a scholarship to St. John's University, and graduation from the University of Minnesota. After early corporate finance leadership roles, he started the most exciting business years of his life as an entrepreneur, journeying across the globe having the time of his life wheeling and dealing and never wanting to retire. Throughout his career, he lauded and motivated all the talented and creative people with whom he worked. He took great care engaging with everyone he encountered.

He was married for 53 years to his dear wife, Mary Kathryn Monahan, who passed away in 2020. Together they raised four children, Elizabeth (Mike), Maggie (Brian), John, and Sara, and were blessed with six cherished grandchildren, Ben, John, Elliott, Mary, Brycen, and Tommy. All his life, he stayed close to many cousins and relatives, and especially treasured Sharon Jendro and Laure and (Dave) Zimmerman.

There are so many sayings - he taught us so much - "Don't ever waste a minute". "I read the sports section first because it celebrates accomplishments." "Travel is the best education." "There is never a bad day for ice cream." "If you have your health, you have everything". "A word of advice - never get old." "If you love what you do, you'll never work a day in your life." "The ideal phone call is less than 30 seconds."

Every day, he was active in his community, socializing, volunteering, and donating his time, passions, and talents to causes that reflected his values, primarily the University of Minnesota, Carlson School of Management, Center for Entrepreneurship; Church of St. Patrick of Edina; Risen Christ Catholic School; and Northern Star Council, Boy Scouts of America.

Most importantly, he was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend who leaned into every event and activity with the utmost zeal, never missing a moment of his grandchildren or others' lives.

He loved raising his family on the Eden Prairie hobby farm, the peace and serenity of Minnesota's North Shore, and the respite of the hot desert sun in Tucson. Outside of family, friends, faith, and fun, everyone knows his true loves were Wall Street and ice cream. In the final days of his life, he was still making broker calls, buying stocks, and eating Dairy Queen with vigor.

A natural born leader, he jumped into any endeavor with enthusiasm, most recently at his Friendship Village residence, where he loved making friends and acting as Treasurer of the Social Committee.

The family thanks the Southdale Fairview Hospital Cardiac Care Unit staff for their truly exceptional and compassionate care.

Please join the family at an open-house reception celebration of Wes' life at the Westin Galleria, Edina, (3201 Galleria) on Wednesday, June 10, 5 - 8 PM. Remarks begin at 6 PM. Valet parking available.

A private Christian burial will be held at Lakewood Cemetery at a later date.
