Eden Prairie, MN - Tom D Krosschell, 68, of Eden Prairie, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Born on May 14, 1957, in Jackson,
Minnesota Tom's presence was always larger than life. His charm and wit won over every room he entered and he was loved by so many. Tom's family was his everything. He loved reminiscing over family memories and sharing stories from his childhood and teenage years. Tom was always working hard, up to the every end, to ensure his loved ones had everything they needed.
Basketball was Tom's greatest passion throughout his life. A standout player in high school, he fulfilled a childhood dream by competing in the Minnesota state championship as a Jefferson Jaguar. He went on to play Division I basketball at the University of Denver, continuing to pursue the game he loved. Years later, coaching his son's youth team sparked a new purpose in him and ultimately became the catalyst for founding the D1 Minnesota AAU basketball program. Tom poured his heart into the program, dedicating himself to coaching and mentoring hundreds of young athletes and fellow coaches. His legacy lives on not only through the program he built, but through the countless lives he impacted both on and off the court.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Denise; his children, Kristin, Nate, and Kara; and his four grandchildren, Kenley, Nolan, Madeleine, and Quinn. He is also survived by his mother, Alice; his brother, Todd (Nancy); and his sisters, Lisa, Konnie, and Donna. Tom was preceded in death by his father, Donald Krosschell, sister Karen and brother Ron and his step-father Dale Sauer.
A service will be held at 12:00pm on Friday, August 1 at Mount Olivet Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, with a visitation starting at 11:00am. A celebration of life will be held immediately after at Champps Americana in Eden Prairie, Minnesota.
