Minnetonka, MN - Timothy 'Tim' Bergstedt DDS, age 72, passed away on December 21, 2025. He will be remembered as a loving husband and father, a dedicated community servant, a caring dentist and a loyal friend.

Tim was born in International Falls, MN. He attended Anoka High School and went on to earn both his undergraduate and Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degrees from the University of Minnesota.

Tim practiced dentistry in Minnetonka for 35 years, where he was known not only for his clinical skill but for the genuine relationships he built with his patients and their families, many spanning generations - a testament to the care, trust, and kindness he brought to his work each day.

Outside of work, Tim was deeply committed to public service and community involvement. He was a longstanding member and chair of the Hopkins School Board, elected to numerous terms on the Minnetonka City Council, was active in Rotary International, and proudly served as the Mayor of Minnetonka from 1990 to 1994. His leadership was guided by a strong sense of responsibility and a sincere desire to give back to the community he loved.

An avid runner, Tim's love for the sport inspired his daughter, Shannon, to begin running at an early age. She went on to compete at a high level for many years, and Tim was involved - offering support, encouragement, and race strategy - every step of the way. Less than two months before his passing, Tim proudly tracked Shannon's run at the New York City Marathon - he was her biggest fan, and her first call upon crossing the finish line.

Despite his many professional and civic commitments, Tim's greatest priority was his family. He never missed one of Shannon's races, and when Michelle chose to enroll in a second full-time, multi-year graduate program while Shannon was young, Tim stepped up at home without hesitation, unwavering in his support.

Tim was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Phyllis. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Dr. Michelle Bergsrud, his daughter Shannon, and his sisters Linda Ludeman and Kathleen Young. A celebration of Tim's life will be held at a later date. If desired, donations may be made to a cause of one's choice in Tim's memory.
