Stillwater - Dr. Thomas Russell II (Tom), 86, of Stillwater, MN, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2026, at home. Born on July 28, 1939, in Minneapolis to Kenneth and Gladys Amberg Russell. Survived by his wife of 62 years, Judith (Judie) Russell; his three beloved children, Thomas (Tom), Katherine (Katie), and Molly; and one granddaughter, Mckenzie Ferguson. Preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Marilyn Mortensen. A lifelong Catholic, Thomas was a devoted member of Holy Spirit Church in St. Paul and Saint Michael's Church in Stillwater, MN. Tom graduated from St. Thomas University in pre-med and the University of Minnesota Medical School. He went on to do his residency in internal medicine at Mayo Clinic and completed training in cardiology at the University of Oregon Medical Center. Tom served in the U.S. Air Force where he became a Major, serving as hospital director at Clovis Air Force Base in Clovis, New Mexico. Funeral service details are pending and will be posted at O'Halloran and Murphy Funeral Home, 575 Snelling Avenue South, St. Paul, MN 55116. Memorials are preferred to the University of Minnesota Medical School Scholarship Fund. Tom was known for his love of family, hunting, Labradors, traveling the world, and the great care he gave to all his patients. He was loved by many nieces and nephews and dear friends.
