He spent many years in business with his father, and owned Steichen's Sporting Goods for over 45 years. Ted cherished his time with the St. Paul Winter Carnival, and the lifetime friendships created, first as the North Wind Prince in 1984, and then becoming King Boreas LI in 1987. Servicing the St. Paul youth sports community was an essential part of Ted's never-ending dedication to St. Paul. This was supported by his induction to the Mancini's Hall of Fame, Catholic Athletic Association Hall of Fame, and St. Agnes High School Athletic Hall of Fame.
