Teresa Elizabeth (Soland) Finch (Terry) Obituary
Inver Grove Heights, MN - Our lovely mother, Teresa Elizabeth Finch (Soland) left this world peacefully, on February 8, 2026. She was 81 years old.
Teresa was born in Oklahoma City on June 15,1944 to Hugh Soland (adopted father), and Mary (née Hage). She grew up mostly in Hopkins MN, attending Hopkins High School and sang with small groups around the twin cities. In 1959, while still in high school, a record producer from BMI/Tarco Records, saw Terry sing and asked if she would like to be part of a new teen-duo - as Terri & Jay - and record new songs he was producing. By February of 1960, their :45 "Tomorrow's Another Day" and flip side, "Why Huh?" hit #1 for two weeks on Minnesota KDWB and KSJN.
From an early age, and throughout her life, Terry was known as a creative soul and accomplished performer. In 1961, still a freshman at the University of Minnesota, Terry was awarded the UofM Outstanding Actress Award, typically given only to seniors at the time.
Mom aways had discerning taste for quality, fine art, and had an excellent flair for design. In 1999, Terry was recognized as Top Sales Associate - achieving over $1 million in sales - while working at Crate and Barrel's high-end furniture division in Palo Alto, California.
She also had an amazing green thumb and could somehow save any plant from near death with her concoction of lemon rinds in water which she kept on the stove.
Terry was a prayerful Christian and fervent spiritual seeker. She loved gemstones, astrology, numerology, world travel, and deeply believed in the positive spirit that connects us all.
Following a long and declining battle with congestive heart failure, strokes, and extreme anxiety, Mom chose to leave the hospital and move to an extraordinary, peaceful care home, called The Bardo, in Inver Grove Heights. Almost instantly, she was relieved to be free from her pain and relaxed, with a view of the birds, deer, fox, and woods outside her window.
On February 8th, Sunday afternoon at 3:33pm, Mom quietly passed away in peace and comfort, with family at her side. It would have pleased her greatly to know; immediately after she drew her final breath, a graceful fox walked past her window, stopped to look inside, and then trotted off into the woods.
Terry is survived by her four sons: Jason Parker (Jennifer), Vin Parker (Teri), Fred Finch (Carolyn), and Elliot Finch; her grandchildren: Audrey, Everett, Maxwell, Gianna, Owen, Eleanor, and Avery; as well as her siblings: Katie, Deb, and Jon (Chip).
A celebration of life will be held from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM on 06-22-2026 at Arboretum, 3675 Arboretum Dr.
