Edina, MN - Susan 'Sue' Kelly, age 72, of Edina, died at home on February 2, 2026, surrounded by her family. Preceded in death by husband of 44 years, Charlie; parents, John & Marion Lundberg; and sister, Mary Lundberg. Survived by two children, Chuck (Megan) and Brenna Kelly; four grandchildren, Nola and Cole Smillin, and Charlie and Sam Kelly; sister Katie Widenmann (Kent); her chosen family, Chrysa and Jackson Kennedy; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Sue was an accomplished student and scientist. A 1975 graduate of St. Cloud State University, she contributed to the development of the Hall-Kaster artificial heart valve, a breakthrough that saved hundreds of thousands of lives, and worked for Medtronic. She later chose to dedicate herself fully to motherhood, a role she embraced passionately. Sue lived simply, yet her impact on those around her was profound. She was a devoted wife to Charlie, selflessly caring for him through nearly a decade of early onset Alzheimer's disease. She was a loving mother, a gentle and joyful Nana to her grandchildren, grandnieces and grandnephews, and a dear friend to many. She was especially thankful to Jenny and Dave Hinz, whose care and companionship sustained, and undoubtedly extended, her life. You will be loved forever and always, Mom.
