Lakeville - Bierman, Susan Bleskachek Susan Bierman, DVM, age 68, of Lakeville passed away the evening of Saturday, May 10, 2025, at her home surrounded by her family. Born in Northfield, MN on September 3, 1956, Susan was the seventh child to be welcomed into the open arms of John & Betsy Bierman. Her passion and love for animals became apparent in childhood and her deep connection with them led her to pursue a degree in veterinary medicine. She graduated from an accelerated program at the University of Minnesota's School of Veterinary Medicine in 1981. She spent the next 44 years fulfilling the calling that has defined her legacy and life. For the last 38 years, she offered not only skilled medical and surgical care, but also deep compassion to patient's families who were in crisis at small animal emergency clinics in Golden Valley and Minneapolis. Susan was dedicated to Bonnie, her family, and friends. She often worked long hours and overnight shifts, but the rest of her time was devoted to her children, grandchildren, extended family, and a multitude of friends. Susan had a calmness despite the chaos that comes with a large family and her home was often the gathering place for all. Everyone was always welcome, food was plentiful, and she and Bonnie provided a place of warmth, kindness and generosity. Susan loved all animals and enjoyed her natural environment. She shared her passion for horses and dressage with her children and grandchildren. For years, her Dachshunds were her constant companions. At their home, Susan and Bonnie surrounded themselves with the beauty of nature which they shared with many birds, butterflies, and other wildlife. Susan is survived by her beloved wife of 15 years, Bonnie; her children by birth and by heart -- Anna (Jessie), Sarah, Emily (Adam), Matthew (Aunchalee), McKinley (Carlee) and Cassie; grandchildren Mason, Ella, Amelia, Jack & Arthur; her siblings Peter (Diane), Mary (David) Patterson, Jane (Paul) Bierman-Lytle, Joe (Kris), Chris (Dawn), Robert (Ellen), Charlie (Dawn), Jennifer (Jim) Griffin; in-laws Mary Boyd Bierman, Steve Cloud, Bonnie's parents, sisters & spouses, countless nieces & nephews, and finally her treasured horse Rasheeka. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Betsy, siblings-- John, Jim, Margaret and a sister at infancy, Amy. A celebration of life will be held July 19 at 1pm at Susan's home.
