Bloomington - 88, passed away peacefully September 6, 2025 in Bloomington, MN. Her twin sister, Sandra Jean Anderson, preceded her in death on October 22, 2018. They were twins born in different years, Sonia on December 31, 1936 and Sandra on January 1, 1937, to Reverend Doctor Reuben Anderson and Bernice Samuelson Anderson in Des Moines, Iowa. Five years later they moved to North Minneapolis where Pastor Anderson served at Salem Lutheran Church. Sonia and Sandra graduated from Patrick Henry High School and Gustavus Adolphus College. They both completed Masters Degrees at the University of Minnesota. Sonia was an accomplished swimmer and traveled with the Aqua Follies, a synchronized swimming troupe that performed with the Minneapolis Aquatennnial in the early 1960's. She went on to teach in Willmar and Owatonna Public Schools. In retirement, the sisters enjoyed traveling as well as designing, creating, and sharing greeting cards and jewelry. They enjoyed their cabin on Sand Lake in summers and Florida in the winter. Sonia is survived by cousins, Mark Anderson, Nancy Anderson Perrier, Karl Anderson and their families as well as families of her late cousins, Robert and David Anderson. She is survived by cousins in Sweden, Ingar, Runo, and Bodil Kerstensson and many friends around the country. There will be a family interment at Crystal Lake Cemetery in North Minneapolis, Minnesota at a later date.
