Palm Desert, CA - Shirley Ann Gorence (nee Cesarek) died peacefully in Palm Desert, CA on December 25, 2025. Shirley was born November 17, 1931 in Eveleth, MN, and graduated from Eveleth High School in 1949. She went on to study nursing, and worked at St. Mary's Hospital in Duluth from 1951-1954. Shirley married Donald Gorence of Hibbing, MN in 1954, and together they raised 3 children in Shoreview, MN. After living in France, Germany, and Washington State, Don and Shirley settled in Palm Desert, California to perfect their golf games. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Shirley loved red wine, sweets, and travel. Shirley was preceded in death by her sisters Lois and Janet. She will be deeply missed by her husband Donald, her sister Carolyn, her children Douglas (Jane), Thomas (Holly), and Susan Pratten, her grandchildren Lauren, Jordan, Theodore, Gregory, Eric, Elizabeth, and Gabrielle (Michael), and her great-grandchildren, Elaura, Luca, and Florence, all of whom will remember her every time they visit a new country, bite into a Klondike Bar, or listen to an Eagles song in the car with all of the windows rolled down.
