Mound, MN - Russell "Russ" Alan Witham of Mound, Minnesota, passed away on March 16, 2026, at the age of 69. He was born on July 13, 1956, in El Paso, Texas, to Ronald and Charlette Witham. Russ later moved to Bloomington, Minnesota, where he graduated from Jefferson High School in 1974. After a brief time at St. Cloud State University, he went on to build a highly successful vending business and, for a period, became one of the largest distributors of Coca-Cola products in the Twin Cities—an enduring testament to his entrepreneurial drive and competitive spirit.

Russ had a love for outdoor recreation and all things Minnesota. Lake Minnetonka drew him to Mound, and he frequently traveled north to the Brainerd Lakes area and onward to Lake Vermilion, which he fondly referred to as "God's Country." As a young man, Russ enjoyed both water and snow skiing. He was a lifelong lover of music, an avid concertgoer, and cherished trips with family and friends especially when golf was involved. Golf was Russ' greatest passion, a perfect blend of sport and social connection that often involved a friendly wager and a great story to take home.

Russ had a remarkable ability to connect with people. He used humor, familiar catchphrases, and personal nicknames to form genuine and lasting relationships. Above all else, Russ was devoted to his family. He was a loving son, brother, father, and a proud "Papa" to his grandchildren. Known for always bringing the fun, Russ's zest for life, compassionate heart, and fierce loyalty to those he loved will be deeply missed.

Russ was preceded in death by his father, Ronald Witham. He is survived by his mother, Charlette Witham; his brother, Scott Witham; and his children, Kim Alvarez (Tony), Derek Holm, Tim Witham (Kristan), and Laura Witham. He leaves behind a cherished legacy in his ten grandchildren: Zac, Ellie, Alex, Karli, Camryn, Marcus, Will, Graedon, Ben, and Macy.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 31, at Normandale Hylands United Methodist Church, 9920 Normandale Blvd., Bloomington, Minnesota 55437. Family and friends are invited to gather at 10:00 a.m., with the service beginning at 11:00 a.m. A Celebration of Life will follow later that day from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the American Legion, 2333 Wilshire Blvd., Mound, Minnesota.
