Roger Allen Albers Obituary
St. Louis Park - Albers, Roger Allen March 16, 1939 - June 29, 2025 Right now I'm in a different place And though we seem apart I'm closer than I ever was, I'm there inside your heart. Roger Allen Albers, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend passed away peacefully on June 29, 2025, at the age of 86. Born on March 16, 1939, Roger grew up in Minnesota where he developed a lifelong love for sports, the outdoors, and most of all - people. A proud graduate of DeLaSalle High School, Roger was a gifted athlete who excelled in football and baseball. His competitive spirit, teamwork, and determination on the field carried over when he took up playing polo. Off the field, his warmth, humor, and kind-hearted nature made him someone everyone was drawn to. Roger's passion for the outdoors was as strong as his love for sports. He found peace and purpose in nature, especially when casting a line at his favorite fishing spots or building his cabin. Some of the most cherished memories were made on the dock or out on the boat, where stories were shared, lessons in fishing were passed down, and time with Roger was treasured by all who joined him. Roger had an incredible gift for making people feel included and valued. His generosity, laughter, and zest for life left a lasting impact on all who knew him. Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Magnus and Susan Albers, and his sisters Patricia Barron, Verna Sullivan, and Rita Alexander. He is survived his brother Charles "Chuck" (Diane) Albers and his loving daughters April (Charlie) Murphy, Natalia (Patrick) Armitage, and Heather (Scott) Simonett; grandchildren Patrick Murphy, Caitlin (Jon) Slomski, Miles (Allison), Cole, and Brooks Armitage, Hadley (Sean) Berens, and Allie and Natalia Simonett; and great-grandchildren Hayden, Jack, and Parker Murphy; Jaden, Grayson, and Charlee Slomski; and Banks and Rhodes Berens. He also leaves behind many dear nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at: Washburn-McReavy Edina Chapel 5000 West 50th & Highway 100 Edina, MN 55436 Roger's legacy of love, inclusion, and joyful living will live on in all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered with each reel cast, sports game played or cheered, sour cream hotdish made, Wheel of Fortune watched and fudge brownie enjoyed. And when that day arrives That we no longer are apart, I'll smile and hold you close to me, Forever in my heart. - Author unknown.
