Naples, Florida - Robert "Bob" Gallivan, Jr. 89, passed away peacefully on December 11, 2024. Born in St. Paul, Bob's life was defined by generosity, optimism, and resilience. A firm believer in Positive Mental Attitude (PMA), he inspired everyone around him with his infectious positivity and humor.
A graduate of St. Thomas Academy and the University of St. Thomas, Bob was a gifted athlete, Bob playing baseball and basketball briefly with the Minnesota Lakers and Milwaukee Braves, before focusing on business. For 50 years, Bob worked in financial planning. A bestselling author of How I Started Earning $50,000 a Year in Sales at the Age of 26 (1963), Bob received numerous accolades throughout his career, including being named one of Minnesota's "Ten Outstanding Young Men" in 1970 and earning top honors at the Million Dollar Roundtable.
Father of 9 children (18 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren), Bob loved to spend time with his family and shared many passions with his kids including golfing, duck hunting, and traveling. Married to Barbara for nearly 50 years, the couple shared a love of travel, golf, and adventure, visiting 112 countries and creating cherished memories. Bob's legacy of optimism lives on through his family, who will remember him for his unwavering positivity and advice: "Attitude, Aptitude, Action." A celebration of life will be held on March 15 at North Oaks Golf Club, 4-7 p.m.
