Baker-Cody, Rita

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Rita Baker-Cody. Rita Elizabeth (Schneider), age 93, passed away at home on the morning of December 8, 2024. Rita was born on May 7, 1931, to Joseph and Catherine (Fleming) Schneider in Breckenridge, MN; the second of seventeen children. Her family was her pride and joy. She raised her children in the Kenwood neighborhood of Minneapolis where she lived for many years. She loved walking around Lake of the Isles and spending time with family and friends. Rita is survived by her children: Stephen (Debby) Baker, Denise (Brian) Baker, Patti Baker-Myhre, Mark (Kim) Baker, Michael (Carrie) Baker, John (Lisa) Baker. Her grandchildren: Julia, Katherine, Issa, Nadjua, Raven, Sylvia, Elizabeth, Clara, Cole, Martha, Wyatt, Tyson, Saige, Cora, Violet, Storm, and Sadie. Her great-grandchildren: Graham, August, Pavel, Winona, Fern, Charlotte, Althea, Bear, Hazel, Rory, Delilah, Raya, and Lily. Her siblings: Laurel, Ruth Anne, Nita, Barb, Colleen, Jane, and Jim; along with many nieces and nephews. She was proceeded in death by her husband Richard Cody and first husband Keith Baker; her sons David and Daniel Baker; her son-in-law David Myhre; her parents Joseph and Catherine; her siblings Bernard, Dennis, Kathleen, Larry, Michael, Kenny, Daniel, Lynda, and Ted. A memorial service will be held at St. Joan of Arc Church, 4537 3rd Ave S, Minneapolis on February 11, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. with visitation at 10:00 a.m. A reception will immediately follow.
