St. Michael, MN - Rick Platzer passed away peacefully in his home from cancer at the age of 70. He served in the US Army, stationed in Colorado Springs and Germany. He worked as a heavy equipment operator/foreman and stayed active with side jobs and projects well past retirement. Known for his sharp wit and strong work ethic, Rick enjoyed building ice rinks and sledding luges, sharing his love of hockey, riding his motorcycles, and problem solving.

He is survived by his mother, Frances Netten, sisters, Denese Graham, Susan Platzer, and Becky Caffery, his wife, DeeAnn, children, Adam, Sarah, and Kelsey, and grandchild, Everest. He was preceded in death by his father, Harlan, and brother, Robert.
