Richard V. Cassidy (Dick) Obituary

Coon Rapids - Richard Vernon Anthony, "Dick" Cassidy, 97, of Coon Rapids, Minnesota, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by the love of his family. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Dick lived a long life filled with faith, family, and his lifelong love for baseball.

Dick is survived by his loving wife, Janet Cassidy, his former wife, Polly Shaw Cassidy, mother of his eight children - Kevin, Colleen, Kurt, Carrie, Kyle, Claudia, Collette, and Cathleen. He was a proud grandfather to 20 grandchildren and a cherished great-grandfather to 8 great-grandchildren.

Born and raised in Minneapolis, Dick was one of six siblings—Fran, Sis, Trish, Pat, and Don. Baseball was his lifelong passion. He played in the minor leagues and went on to coach Legion and high school baseball. Some of his most meaningful seasons were spent coaching his three sons. His long-time commitment to the sport was honored when Patrick Henry High School named its baseball field after him.

Dick rarely missed a chance to support his children and grandchildren, attending their games and cheering with pride. He lived with optimism, humor, and generous spirit, leaving behind a legacy of love and encouragement that spans generations. He will be deeply missed by all who know him.

Funeral Service will be held at 11am on Monday Nov. 17th. (visitation 1 hour before) with a luncheon to follow at St. Stephen's Catholic Church 525 Jackson St in Anoka, MN. 55303
