Marshall, Raymond E. aged 75, of Minneapolis, MN, passed away peacefully at his home on August 17, 2017. He was born in Duluth, MN, on May 27, 1942, to Raymond F. Marshall and Clarice J. (Scanlon). He attended St. Anthony grade school, Cathedral H.S, and the U of M where he graduated in 1969 with a B.A. in Political Science and also attended graduate school in Public Administration. In 1964 Rory enlisted in the U.S. Army and attended basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, MO, and the Army Language School in Monterey, CA, where he studied Persian (Farsi). He served for three years in Germany with the Army Intelligence Service and completed his enlistment at Fort Dix, NJ, in 1968. After graduation Rory was employed as the Assistant City Manager of Wayzata, MN, and the City Manager of Stillwater, MN. He then entered the private sector where he worked in the printing business and a variety of other occupations until his retirement. Rory was a devoted member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Minneapolis where he was a constant and enthusiastic participant in church activities and a friend to everyone. He was also a regular and much valued volunteer at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center where he spent countless hours visiting and counseling patients. Rory loved spending time with his family and friends and he had a terrific sense of humor. He especially enjoyed sharing family stories and his observations about the current state of the world. His favorite hobby was researching his family's history and he became an expert in Polish genealogy who corresponded with fellow genealogists all over the world. Rory was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Mary J. Marshall and Joanne C. Marshall, and sister-in-law Sheryl (Richard) Marshall. He is survived by his brothers: Richard J. Marshall of Merced, CA, and his children Richard (Julie) Marshall, Jason (Marianne) Marshall, and Raina (Charles) Carrero; and Brian P. (Janice) Marshall of Mendota Heights, MN, and their children Laura (Andy) Baltes and Patrick Marshall; as well as his great nieces and nephews. A private family burial will be held at the Polish Catholic Cemetery in Duluth. If so desired, memorials may be sent to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Minneapolis.
