Penelope Peters (Penny) Obituary

St Anthony, MN - Penelope "Penny" Peters (née Grivna)

January 3, 1941 - November 1, 2025

Penelope "Penny" Peters, age 84, of Bloomington, MN, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2025. She was born on January 3, 1941, in Northeast Minneapolis to John and Mary Grivna.

Penny was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Grivna, and her beloved husband of 53 years, Robert "Bob" Peters, along with many cherished relatives and friends.

Penny graduated from Edison High School in 1958 and married the love of her life, Bob, on September 28, 1963. A lifelong and devoted member of St. Mary's Orthodox Cathedral, she was a faithful presence in the choir, various clubs, and many other church organizations. She joyfully lent her hands to making perogies, baking countless treats for coffee hours, and volunteering her time whenever needed — a commitment she continued until just before her passing. Penny loved traveling and especially cherished her summer family gatherings at Lake Okoboji. Most recently, she fulfilled a lifelong dream by traveling to Slovakia to meet distant relatives and explore her family's heritage.

Professionally, Penny began her career at Minnegasco and later spent many decades working alongside Ray Anderson, where she skillfully maintained bookkeeping and built lasting friendships.

Above all, Penny's greatest devotion was to her husband, Bob. Together, they shared a deep commitment to the City of Bloomington and were passionate advocates for accessibility and inclusion.

Penny is survived by her twin sister, Pauline Hill of Sheridan, WY; her brother, Tim (Sandi) Grivna of Mitchell, SD, brother-in-law Kenneth Peters of Coon Rapids, MN, sister-in-law Vickie (Marv) Hinnenkamp of Grey Eagle, MN and sister-in-law Barb (Kenny) Moore of Winnemucca, NV; fifteen nieces and nephews; and many grand- and great-grand-nieces and nephews.

Penny was an amazing sister, wife, aunt, and friend. She was endlessly kind, always sweet, and known for her big, bright smile that could lift anyone's day. She will be dearly missed by all whose lives she touched.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Mary's Orthodox Cathedral.
