Crystal, MN - Paul Kyllonen 11/29/61-5/30/26 passed away peacefully after a 25-year battle with Parkinson's. After graduating from high school, he earned degrees in Statistics and Computer Science from the U of M. He worked as an engineer for Honeywell and then pivoted to education. Paul student-taught in Sells, AZ just over the Mexican border where most of his students were Native Americans. He taught math at Sheridan Middle School in NE Mpls. A tireless adventurer, he ran 9 marathons, dog sledded in northern MN, took countless boundary waters trips with friends, organized and played on men's league hockey, bandy, softball and volleyball teams. He also played golf, pickleball, raced mountain bikes, cross country skied, cycled across Europe. Paul was extremely proud of his Finnish heritage. After being diagnosed with Parkinson's at age 39 he never lost his adventurous spirit. He loved watching his niece and nephew's events. He was a fixture at Mpls hockey rinks, Highland baseball fields, and St. Paul soccer fields. He loved traveling to see friends in California to golf and spend time watching their kid's events. He was a sharp Scrabble & card player, loved Catan, Ticket to Ride and cribbage. Paul is survived by his mother, Nancy; sister Sarah (Neal); brother Erick (Jen); three nephews; Asher, Levi, Owen and niece Lilah and so many other family members, teammates, and friends. He will be greatly missed. Visitation will be held from 5-7pm on 6/4 at Glen Haven Funeral Chapel 5125 W Broadway, Crystal, MN. His funeral will be at the Finnish Apostolic Church 9401 Bataan St NE, Blaine on 6/5 at 10:30am. In lieu of flowers, donations appreciated to the Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
