Nancy Jean Hau Obituary

Apple Valley, MN - Nancy was born January 11, 1948 in Lismore, MN to Earl and Jennette (Drenth) Reisdorfer. She died March 25, 2026 in Marietta, GA following a long battle with Lewy body dementia. Nancy grew up living in rural farm communities in Lismore, MN, Alice, ND Iona, MN and Adrian, MN with her parents and three siblings (Ronald Reisdorfer, Randy Reisdorfer, and Sandra Duncan). These years involved helping with the family farm, raising chickens and cows with the 4-H youth program, playing the French horn, and helping her father with his crop-dusting business. Following graduation from Adrian High School in 1966, Nancy moved to Omaha, NE and worked as a telephone operator for Northwestern Bell. In Omaha, she met her first husband, Robert Hau, and had twin boys, Vincent and Errol Hau. The family moved to Bloomington, MN in 1976, where her youngest son, Patrick Hau was born later that year. Nancy then moved to Edina, MN in 1983 until 1999. In 2000, she married her current husband, Roy Stricker and moved to Apple Valley, MN.

Although Nancy established a strong educational foundation at an early age (co-valedictorian), her pursuit of higher education began in 1984 at age 37. She was highly ambitious and determined to pursue higher education while also building her professional career and raising three sons. Nancy completed her Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Business and Marketing at St. Catherine University 1987. She had a very active career with Aetna Health Plans and Wilson Learning Corporation in Edina, MN. Mid-career, she pivoted into nursing to pursue a deeper sense of purpose (and a lifelong dream) of being a nurse. She stepped away from her business career, and at age 48, became a nurse in 1996, and later received her Bachelor of Science (BS) Registered Nurse in 2005. She then spent nearly 14 very rewarding years caring for patients and making many lifelong friendships as an RN Case Manager at HealthPartners in Bloomington, MN.

Nancy beamed with pride being a mother. Her children were the "apple of her eye." She often shared that her children were her greatest accomplishment in life. The moment her twin boys (Vince and Errol Hau) were born at Offutt Airforce base, weighing approximately 9 lbs. each, she never stopped smiling. She devoted herself to her three boys, caring for them and supporting them through the many stages of their lives including becoming parents themselves. She was exceptionally proud of her youngest son, Patrick Hau, especially during his time playing football at the University of Minnesota. She often used her love of sewing to tailor clothes, drapes, robes, and blankets for them and her 9 grandchildren she deeply loved and adored. Although she passed down many important life lessons, she engaged her family with fierce devotion, unconditional love, along with her cheerful nature and light-hearted playfulness.

A passion that was a hallmark of hers throughout her life was gardening. Nancy thoroughly enjoyed planting, potting and pruning her plants and flowers. Every season, she would find new beds in her yard for her many annuals and perennials. She loved her hostas, vincas, mums, pakos, roses and her snow-on-the-mountain. She and Roy spent much of their time together outdoors enjoying their many garden beds along with their open yard, canopy of trees, backyard critters, walking trails and nearby parks.

Nancy made life not only work for her, but she had fun living, which was truly infectious. With her fun-loving disposition, she made friends, she brought laughter, she brought energy, she made her patients smile, and continued to spread her unique brand of joy (which consisted of a lot of playfulness, teasing, laughter, adventurousness, sweetness, and most noticeably, an open-heart). She was radiant, intelligent, driven, fun, and compassionate and extremely proud family heritage and her Minnesota roots.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Randy Reisdorfer and her parents, Earl and Jennette Reisdorfer, and her former husband, Roger Montgomery. Nancy is survived by her husband Roy Stricker, her children Errol (Colleen) Hau, Vincent (Shannon), and Patrick (Heidi) Hau, Jeff (Christie), Dan Stricker, brother Ron (LuAnne) Reisdorfer, sister Sandra (Roger) Duncan, her former husband Robert Hau, 9 grandchildren, and many loving nieces, nephews and friends. A celebration of life is planned for 12pm, May 2, 2026 at the Presbyterian Church of the Apostles, 701 E 130th Street in Burnsville, MN. In lieu of flowers, donations to 4-H (www.4-H.org) would be appreciated.
