Nancy Ann Haley Obituary

St. Paul - Nancy Ann Haley, 75, was born to Dan and Rose Vesely in St. Paul, Minnesota in 1949. She grew up in the Midwest, living in Minnesota, Indiana, and Illinois.

She went to college at St. Catherine's in St. Paul. She graduated in 1971 with a degree in social work.

While in college, she met Michael Haley. In 1970 they married. Recently, they celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary.

They bought their forever home on Eleanor Avenue in St. Paul. There, she would have and raise three boys, Sean Patrick, Terence Michael, and Timothy Colin.

(She'd draw on this experience in tough times, proclaiming, "I live in a house with three boys! I can do anything.")

When her first two sons were young, she was a real estate appraiser. Sean and Terry loved visiting the construction sites. Later, when Tim was born, she would work in customer service.

She died on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, just three days before her 76th birthday. Knowing how she felt about birthdays, she might regard that as a silver lining.

That's what she did. Here's who she was.

Nancy was the energy in every room she entered. She was a natural storyteller and loved talking with anyone and everyone.

Everyone! In addition to the people listed below, she is survived by hundreds of Twin Cities cashiers, wait staff, and Costco employees that she treated as friends.

She was crafty and loved art. Her stitchery was amazing. The house was constantly having new needlepoint artwork hung. She would redecorate it for each season.

Nancy was tough (she raised three boys!) She survived two serious health scares in the last decade, including stage 4 cancer.

She was a devoted Pokemon player. Nancy and Mike frequently attended raids and made friends with local players. She caught Pokemon on 6 continents.

(Yes! You read that right.)

Nancy was curious. In recent years, she, Mike, and their friends travelled the world. She loved it! And she reveled in sharing stories about their adventures.

Mike and Nancy were together for 55 years. Through good times and bad, they were TOGETHER. For those who knew them, it is hard to imagine one without the other.

She was an amazing mother. No, she was an amazing mom. Her sons knew she would always be there for them. They counted on her.

And she doted on them.

Nancy loved being with her grandchildren. She enjoyed seeing them grow up and was delighted as they each revealed their personalities – how each was a unique Haley. When they were all having fun together, she was at her happiest.

But most of all, Nancy was the soul of a family that loves her very much and is struggling to get used to an emptier (and much quieter!) world. She is – and will be – missed. A lot.

A lot!

She is survived by Michael Haley, Sean (Katie), Terry (Kavita), Tim (Sarah), her grandchildren Brayden, Anjali, Gia, Teddy, and Miles, and her sister Joan Anderson.

Her funeral will be held on Friday, October 24, at the church of the Holy Spirit at 515 S. Albert Street, in St. Paul, Minnesota. Visitation is at 10 AM. The service is at 11 AM.
