Mike Shupien Obituary
Blaine - Mike Shupien passed away peacefully at home on July 7, 2026 at the age of 66. Mike lived life to the fullest despite his stage 4 cancer diagnosis in May 2021.
Proudly born and raised in NE Minneapolis where he met his wife Tonia of 44 years. They raised their 3 active children in New Brighton and spent recent years traveling and enjoying nature in Alaska and WI.
Survived by his wife, Tonia; daughter, Niki (Dan) Engstrom; son, Neil (Bao) Shupien; and grandchildren, Juniper and Fiske Engstrom. He is also survived by all of his siblings and their spouses; Sharon Shupien, Tom (Judi) Shupien, Rick (Judy) Shupien, Nancy (Steve) MacDonald along with many nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors across the country. Preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Shirley Shupien; his nephew Keith Shupien; and his oldest son, Nathan Shupien.
Mike excelled at ski jumping as a young man and then went on to work hard at a successful 40 plus year career as a plasterer and field superintendent in commercial construction. He had a witty sense of humor, loved working on his projects, hunting, fishing, and spending time in nature or traveling with family, and old and new friends.
Since his cancer diagnosis five years ago, he has been under the excellent care of the Mayo Clinic and, against the odds, has continued to lead a very active life through grit and prayers.
To celebrate his memory, Mike would ask you to live each day as if it's a new adventure. Please join us to celebrate his life if you are able.
Visitation will be held from 3-7PM on Sun, July 12, 2026 at KOZLAK RADULOVICH FUNERAL CHAPEL-BLAINE (1385 107th Ave NE, Blaine). Liturgy of Resurrection 11AM, Mon, July 13th with visitation one hour prior and luncheon to follow at ST. MARON MARONITE CATHOLIC CHURCH (600 University Ave NE, Minneapolis).
