Richfield - Aged 79, passed away surrounded by family on November 28, 2025 at Village Shores in Richfield. He and his twin sister Mary were born on July 27, 1946 to Leo and Hazel Thomes. Mike grew up in Richfield as one of five kids. He graduated from Richfield High School and the Univ. of Minn. He earned an engineering degree and was a member Triangle Fraternity and the Marching Band. He served in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1971. He worked for NSP/Xcel for forty years in various parts of the company. He was a longtime member of Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd where he was a steadfast volunteer and played in Bell Choir. Mike's passions were his wife, Kay, and his sons, David and Brian. He loved music, running, biking, volunteering, and hiking on the North Shore. He loved spending time with extended family every summer at Boyd Lodge. He is preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Mary and Linda. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Kay; sons, David and Brian; sister, Susan Sivori; brother, James; and many in-laws and nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff of Village Shores memory care and Minnesota Hospice for their kind and respectful care of Mike. Funeral services will be at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd on Thursday, December 11, 4801 France Ave. S., Edina Minn. Visitation at 10am, Service at 11am. In lieu of flowers memorials to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's research.
