Michael John Sommers Obituary

Maple Grove - Mike passed on January 3rd, 2026 at the age of 64 after a bout with cancer. He was deeply loved and will be much missed for his generosity and caring nature, as well as his outgoing personality and delight in making people laugh. He was a talented athlete, winning the Florida State Wrestling champion-ship, as well as years on baseball and hockey teams. He loved fishing and boating... he had the extraordinary skill of being a barefoot waterskier. He maintained strength in character all the years of his life... in the careers of union welder, sheet metal and roofing in his earlier years. Followed by his later years as an over the road trucker. It thrilled him to see all parts of our beautiful country. Music was his constant companion over all of his miles and his life. He was a gifted, self-taught guitarist. He had a great love for life no matter what the circumstances. He drew his strength and happiness from his unwavering faith rooted in God's love. Mike was preceded in death by his loving father John A. Sommers. He is survived by his mother, Gayle Raymond Sommers, his children Aubry Marie (Ben) Woksonsommers (grandchildren Wyatt, India, Elijah, Veronica), Aaron Michael Sommers and Michael Raymond Sommers, as well as sisters Sarah and Jane Sommers and brother Peter (Kerry) Sommers.
