Michael Raymond Burnett (Mike) Obituary

Minnetonka, MN - Mike bravely and courageously left this earth on July 16, 2026, with his wife and children by his side.

Born on September 3, 1958, Mike grew up in Minnetonka and participated in various sports, most notably basketball, baseball, and football. After graduating from Minnetonka High School in 1977, he carried his love for basketball to St. John's University in Collegeville, MN, where he proudly played all four years. An avid lover of sports, Mike rarely turned down the opportunity to watch a game, go fishing, or play golf with his friends. Mike was very proud of his annual golf outing, the GSO, with 3 of his best friends (all named Jeff!), that spanned over 40 years. A brag-worthy accomplishment was that he sank two hole-in-ones over his long golf career.

To know Mike was to love him. He had a unique ability to make lasting and meaningful friendships in every era of his life through childhood, high school, college, and his careers. His steadfast commitment to keeping up with friendships old and new was admirable. His loyalty was unmatched, and those lucky enough to be in his orbit could feel it.

Perhaps his greatest joy of all was his family. The love of his life, Anne, often benefited from Mike's love language of stellar cooking, his genuine excitement for concerts, and 50 years of adventures together. His children received his unwavering love and support from birth through adulthood, and his grandchildren adored their "Bumpa".

Left to miss him endlessly are his wife of 43 years, Anne; daughter and son-in-law, Courtney and Kyle Christen; son and daughter-in-law, Jamie Burnett and Laurie Lam; four beautiful grandchildren, Otto, Ella, Lainey and Wes; sister, Jeanne Burnett (Jan Boulden); brother, Steve Burnett (Jan), brother-in-law, David Farmer; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Meeting him on the other side are his parents, Pat and Don Burnett; sister, Kay Quick; in-laws, Marit and Wes Farmer; sister-in-law, Kathy Farmer; nephew, Andy Burnett.

A special thank you to family, friends, and the care team at Methodist Hospital for their dedication to Mike's care this year. Our family is deeply appreciative.
