Bloomington, MN - Mary Lou Thomas, 95, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2026 at Little House Hospice in Edina, MN. Mary Lou was born in Minneapolis, MN on August 3, 1930 to parents Raymond & Caroline Fitzgerald. She attended St. Margaret's Academy High School where she graduated in 1948. Shortly afterward, she married Todd E Thomas and established their family in Edina, MN. In addition to raising four children, Mary Lou worked as a secretary, a homemaker, and was involved in her community. She was an active member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church of Edina as well as St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. She also enjoyed her years volunteering at Holy Cross Hospital in Broward County, FL.
Mary Lou loved to travel, read, and excelled at crossword puzzles. She enjoyed art, wine, and possessed an incredible sense of humor. She and Todd retired to South Florida where she lived until her recent return to the Minneapolis area surrounded by family and friends.
Mary Lou is survived by her children Todd Jr, Terry (Divine), Tim (Donna), Carol; grandchildren Angela Knox (Tom), Stephen, Jennifer, Sarah, Evan (Amanda); great grandchildren Mabel & Maverick Knox. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brother Ray Fitzgerald Jr, and sister Margaret Peggy McWaide. Mary Lou will find eternal rest with her husband at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, MN.
A short memorial service will be held August 6th at 10:30am at Ft. Snelling Cemetery Pavillion.
