Mary died on June 22, 2024 from complications of diabetes. Preceded in death by infant daughter, Emily, and parents, Charles and Grace. Mary is survived by her son, Paul Anderson; grandchildren, Natallya "Tally" Anderson and Tyler Anderson; siblings, Michael (Jeanne Pickering), Mark (Connie), Maureen (Jay Hanson), Michelle (Bruce Quarry); nephews, Kyle Andrew, Ralph "Tony" Wright, John (Jenna) Andrew, and niece, Samantha (Zach) Warden.

Mary lived her entire life with diabetes and its long-term complications. The hurdles she faced often seemed insurmountable, but her inner light and dignified grace carried her through even the darkest of days. Her love of family and God guided her and she emerged from each challenge with even stronger faith and brighter light.

Mary adored all the young people in her life, often spending days with them creating artwork masterpieces, playing games, baking cookies, or just staying in and letting her young granddaughter and her friends practice their hair and makeup skills on her. Mary enjoyed the Beatles, the Golden Girls, writing poetry, her cats, the cosmos, and always kept her heart and mind open to all possibilities.

Those who were lucky enough to know Mary, would tell you that she was caring, a great listener who always viewed the glass as half-full, and could tell a tell a joke and laugh at herself. She was talented, fun, and smart.

Her family and friends were the luckiest of all because we were all loved by her. Her love was special. It was unconditional, unwavering, unmistakable. It was real. She was our Mar-Mar.

Visitation and memorial service to be held August 16, 2024, 1:00PM at Mount Olivet Lutheran Church, 5025 Knox Ave. S., in Minneapolis. Reception follows.
