North Branch - Age 79, of North Branch, MN, passed away February 12, 2026. Preceded in death by parents Sig and Amy (Casperson) Rorvick and sisters Nancy and Lorain. Survived by loving wife Kay; son Tony (Alita); grandchildren Mitchell (Abbey), Haley (Ryan), Lucas (Nate), Hannah (Lance), Jacob (Casi), Christian (Jessy), Alyssa (Jesse), Nathan (Remi), Katelyn (Andrew), Kristina (Cole) and Mia; great-grandchildren Kieran, Landon, Gracie, Onyx and Poppy; and dear family friends Gunn Sandik and Elizabeth Robins.
Marv served 30 years with the Minneapolis Police Department, including 12 years as a Homicide Detective. He later served 15 years as an investigator with the Hennepin County Attorney's Office. He was especially proud of his role in securing the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the murder of Officer Jerry Haaf.
Proud of his 100% Norwegian heritage, he visited relatives in Norway and remained in close contact over the years.
Marv cherished time at the family cabin on Lake Roosevelt near Outing, MN, enjoying hunting, fishing, canoeing and water skiing. He later owned the 30-foot sailboat Alibi, moored in Bayfield, WI, and raced in the Trans Superior Race from Sault Ste. Marie to Duluth.
After selling the sailboat, Marv and Kay raised Tennessee Walking Horses, including "Bigtime Preview" and "The Reverend Mr. Black," establishing Black Dog Farm.
The family thanks the staff of Ecumen Hospice and Ecumen North Branch for their compassionate care.
Visitation 10 AM Friday, February 20, 2026, at Wyoming United Methodist Church, Wyoming, MN; service 11 AM with luncheon to follow.
