St. Paul - passed away on January 3, 2026 at the age of 88. She was predeceased by her parents Harold and Ethel Vernon and her daughter Shannon Pearson. Marlene is survived by her husband of 42 years, Iric Nathanson, her sons Phillip Wagner (Kathy) and Jonathan Wagner (Barbara) six grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
A graduate of Mankato State University and St. Cloud University, Marlene worked as a teacher and a family counselor for the Wilder Foundation. In 2009, Marlene and Iric moved to the Becketwood Cooperative along with their canine companion, Lily As an active member of the co-operative community, Marlene took a special interest in preserving Becketwood's many community gardens. She was a long-time member of the team that provided fresh flowers for the Becketwood dining room each week.
An accomplished artist, an avid gardener and a great cook, Marlene was famous in family circles for her caramel rolls and her apple pies. Marlene will be remembered for the warmth of her personality, her kindness and compassion, and her sparking smile that lit up every room she entered. She will be missed
Special thanks to the staff members at Episcopal Homes Gardens, who cared for Marlene during her final months.
A celebration of life will be held at Becketwood Cooperative later this year. Memorial contributions can be sent to Second Harvest Heartland.
