Dr. Mark Lewis Norman III Obituary
Eden Prairie - Dr. Mark Lewis Norman III, a beloved ophthalmologist, devoted husband, and cherished father, passed away peacefully on May 30th, 2026. He was a man whose quiet strength, generous spirit, and deep love for his family left an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
Mark met the love of his life, Polly Sandvik, in high school — a chance encounter that would become the great love story of his life. They married and spent 48 remarkable years together, building a home filled with laughter, adventure, and devotion to one another and their family. They shared the same birthday, August 29th, though one year apart.
Driven by a lifelong commitment to healing, Mark pursued medicine and dedicated his career to the field of ophthalmology. Over the course of his distinguished career, he touched the lives of countless patients, restoring and preserving the gift of sight with the steady hands and compassionate care that defined him as a physician.
Outside the office, Mark was a man of the outdoors in the truest sense. For many years he channeled his passion for hunting and working dogs into Sharp Shooters Kennel, where he trained hunting dogs with the patience, skill, and quiet authority that those who knew him would instantly recognize. In his later years he brought that same dedication to Geis Farms, where he continued to pursue the outdoor life he loved so deeply. Whether in the field with his dogs, working through a round of golf, or exploring somewhere new on a family trip, Mark was at his best when surrounded by open skies and the people he loved.
Dr. Mark Lewis Norman III lived fully, loved fiercely, and will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents Dr. Mark Norman II and Mary Elizabeth Norman. He is survived by his loving wife, Polly Norman; his sons, Mark Norman IV (Rose), Thomas Norman (Megan) and Grandkids; Madeleine, Elise, Olive, Theodore, and Ford, as well as brothers Matthew (Stephanie), Michael (Heidi), and nieces Hannah and Katherine, all whose lives he brightened simply by being in them.
