Marilyn Berg Obituary

Lakeville - Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord on December 29, 2025, at age 87, following a seven-year journey with Alzheimer's disease. Marilyn was defined by her remarkable capacity for love, her sharp intellect, and her quiet strength. We are deeply grateful to the caregivers at The Moments for the compassion and dignity they showed her. Born August 24, 1938, in Michigan City, Indiana, Marilyn was the daughter of Charles Radey, Sr., and Wilhelmina Hoogervorst. She graduated from Ball State Teachers College in 1959 and taught middle school before dedicating herself to raising her family. Education remained a lifelong passion, and she went on to tutor countless students, always believing in the power of learning and opportunity. Marilyn shared 64 years of marriage with her lifelong love, Elwin "Butch" Berg. Together they built a close, devoted family and took great joy in being "Nonni and Papa," deeply involved in the lives of their grandchildren. There is comfort in knowing they are now reunited. A longtime resident of Burnsville, Minnesota, Marilyn was deeply engaged at Mary, Mother of the Church as a trustee for many years. She was active in AAUW, AXO Alumnae, Investment Club, Olympic Hills GC Women's League, and Bridge Club. Her home and garden reflected her care, discipline, and appreciation for beauty. Marilyn is survived by her children, Elizabeth Stockman (Randy), Carolyn Zucker (Larry), and Peter Berg (Julie); seven grandchildren; one great-grandson; her brother John Radey (Kathleen) and sister-in-law, Marcia Radey. Visitation will be held Friday, January 23, at 10 a.m. at Mary, Mother of the Church, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. and lunch at noon. Private interment will be at Pleasant View Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to the American Association of University Women.
