Wayzata - Minnick, Rev. Malcolm Lee, Jr. "Mac" passed away May 29th in Wayzata, MN at age 93. Mac is survived by Lynda, his wife of 30 years; daughters Katherine Minnick (Frank Karpiel) and Ellen Wentzel; sons Mark Minnick and Jeffrey (Diane) Minnick; stepsons Peter Tidemann and Christopher Tidemann; 7 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Mac graduated from Roanoke College in 1955 and from Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary in 1958. From 1958 to 1976 he served 3 parishes in Virginia. In 1976 he relocated to New York for a position in the church-wide organization of the Lutheran Church in America (LCA). In 1988 he moved to Chicago to become Executive Director of Division for Outreach, Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA). Under his leadership, 1000 new ministries were started. He retired in 1997. In retirement he served as interim senior pastor at 2 churches and as consultant for the Advocate Medical Group in Chicago. In 2015 he and Lynda relocated to Wayzata, MN. They became members of Central Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. A funeral service will be held at Central Lutheran Church, 333 S. 12th St., Minneapolis, June 18th at 2 PM. Visitation will begin at 1 PM with reception to follow the service. Parking information, directions and livestream are listed on the church website at centralmpls.org. Memorials preferred to ELCA World Hunger or Lutheran Disaster Relief.
