Lynne Buckbee Alexander
Lynne Buckbee Alexander Obituary
Eden Prairie - Age 83, of Eden Prairie. In the quiet moments between Christmas Eve and Christmas morning, our dear sister, Lynne, passed away, finding peace. She was welcomed by her parents Gordy and Meg Alexander, by brother-in-law Bill Currie, and nephew Billie Currie. Her beloved dogs Abby, Sammie, and Cooper were awaiting her just over the Rainbow Bridge. Lynne was born on March 15, 1942 in Saginaw, Michigan, graduated in 1960 from Edina-Morningside High School, and in 1964 from the University of Minnesota, where she was a member of Delta Gamma Fraternity. She was a generous alum of the University and a loyal Gopher fan. With her degree in Retail Merchandising, she began her long career with Daytons in Minneapolis, becoming assistant store manager at Burnsville Center and ultimately manager of Brookdale. After leaving Daytons, she formed an LLC, working as a consultant in HR, and worked as Administrator for Martin& Associates. Lynne served many years on the Board of Directors of The Bureau/ Art Instruction Schools, eventually becoming CEO. For more than 70 years, Lynne was an active member of Richfield United Methodist Church, serving in all areas of leadership and enjoying singing in the choir. She was a member of Richfield Rotary, serving as its President and as Secretary, and often as creative planner of their annual wine-tasting fundraiser. She was a major donor to Rotary International. During her life she loved dogs, knitting, sewing, cooking, music, traveling, and Mini Coopers. Along the way she made many good life-long friends. Her niece and nephews and their partners have been the real loves of her life: Jennifer Stevens Colvin (Alex), Mark Stevens (Tara Ziegler), Mike Stevens (Ashley), Matt Currie (Pamela), Alex Currie (Sarah), Whit Alexander (Laura), Griff Alexander and Blake Alexander, as well as 14 grand nieces and nephews. And she never forgot a birthday! We, her sisters, Marilee Stevens (Terry), and Kate Currie, and her brother, Gordy Alexander (Lisa), will hold her close in our hearts and memories. Services will be held at Richfield United Methodist Church, 5835 Lyndale Ave. So. 55419, on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at 4pm with visitation at 3pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the U of M Raptor Center or Richfield UMC.
