Roseville - Age 92, passed peacefully in her home in the company of loved ones on December 10th. Born to Ignace and Ethel Kapelovitz on February 6, 1933, and raised in North Dakota. Loraine graduated from Dickinson High School in 1951 and attended the University of Minnesota. In 1952, she married the love of her life, Aaron Gitis and they raised their family in Roseville, Minnesota. Once her children were in school, she helped her husband in his business and worked a variety of clerical and retail jobs including the bridal registry at Carson Pirie Scott. Loraine was an excellent cook, seamstress and crochet artist, she also took great delight in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed beating them at card games. Preceded in death by her parents; husband; newborn son, Pincus; brothers, Harold and Marcus Kapelovitz, and Sam Kappe. Survived by children, Joline Gitis (Steven Miles) and Sheldon Gitis; grandchildren, Dara Miles (Sambo Pen), Erica Bowen (Brian), and Esme Gitis-Miles; great-grandchildren, Stephanie and Serena Miles and Aaron James Bowen. The family is profoundly grateful to the Deel family, Crystal, Jada, and Tess for their extraordinary loving care and to Yelena, Melissa, Muna, Lowanda, and the Sholom Hospice team who stepped in to provide essential assistance when it was most needed. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Congregation Shir Tikvah, 1360 W. Minnehaha Pkwy. Minneapolis or donor's choice. Funeral service 1:00 PM Monday, December 15th at Minneapolis Jewish Cemetery Chapel, 7032 Penn Ave S., Richfield. Shiva 7:00 p.m. Monday, 1517 E River Pkwy, Minneapolis.
