Lawrence Anthony Moloney (Larry) Obituary

Larry Moloney passed away peacefully with family at his side on the morning of Friday January 3. Larry was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. He attended University of Detroit High School, received his bachelor's degree from the University of Notre Dame (where he performed in the marching band at every game and never missed an ND game for the remainder of his life), and completed his law degree at the University of Michigan where he met Trudy, the love of his life. His 40-plus year career as a trial attorney included work at the U.S. Justice Department in Washington, D.C. and, after relocating to Minnesota, work for local law firms and ultimately a nonprofit where he used his legal prowess to advocate for the poor.

Larry was known for his infectious laugh and enthusiasm for all his passions from political advocacy to gardening.

He loved being with his sons Peter and Thomas in their passions, which took him everywhere from guided muskie fishing trips in the north woods of Wisconsin to flying airplanes. His favorite pastime was walking his beloved dog, Frazer.

Losing Larry has left a hole in a great many hearts. He is survived by his wife, Trudy; sons Thomas and Peter; sisters Mary (Regnier) and Kathy (Moloney Egnatios), many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 4537 3rd Ave S, Minneapolis on January 21, 2025 at 11 a.m. with visitation one hour prior. Memorials to donor's choice.
