Edina, MN - Lana Sue (Widener) Flatau

Lana Flatau, 80, of Eagan, passed away on Monday, March 3, 2025. She was born on February 26, 1945, in Cheyenne WY to Doris and Norman Widener. Lana grew up in Bakersfield CA and graduated from Bakersfield High School in 1963. She graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1967, where she majored in vocal performance. She moved to Minnesota in 1974.

Lana was a passionate and dedicated music teacher, who helped develop that love of music with her students. She was proud of supporting hundreds of children (and adults), in many ways, over her 40 years of teaching. She taught at the Yamaha music school, where she met the love of her life and future husband Jerry Flatau. They married on September 25, 1982.

Over the years, Lana and Jerry enjoyed travelling to Australia, Norway and the Caribbean, along with several trips to New Orleans. Together, they shared a love of music and life with their dogs. Lana also had a beautiful singing voice, loved movies and watching baseball, and was a dedicated member of her church.

Lana is survived by her husband of 42 years, their daughter Linda and son-in-law Joe Beeler, one grandchild and many relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, one sister, three sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law, grandniece and a nephew.

A celebration of life for Lana will be held on May 9, 2025, at 5 - 8 pm at the Eagan Community Center, 1501 Central Parkway, Eagan MN 55121.
