Edina - Furda, Kelly Sue, MD age 48, of Edina, MN, passed away suddenly of natural causes on August 1, 2025.

Kelly was born on August 25, 1976 to Dave and Cindy Furda. She grew up in Brainerd, MN, where she attended Brainerd High School. She studied at the College of Saint Benedict and then at the University of Minnesota Medical School, where she met the love of her life and husband of 23 years, Scott Sanderson.

Kelly practiced as a breast radiologist at Park Nicollet, providing compassionate care to her patients while saving countless lives through the early detection of breast cancer.

Kelly's true legacy, however, will be her fierce and unwavering love for her family and close friends. Kelly was an incredibly dedicated and loving mother, wife, daughter, sister, and friend. She cherished time at the cabin and loved to travel, particularly trips to the mountains. Kelly was kind, thoughtful, wise, and fearless, and she had the warmest, most beautiful smile. She had a gift for meaningful conversation and connection, and she was the best partner for a walk, cup of coffee, or chat by the lake or around a fire. Kelly lives on through all the lives she's touched, particularly Scott and their two sons, Owen and Ben, who were the pride of her life and who will always be a reflection of her unconditional love and devoted parenting.

Kelly is survived by her husband Scott Sanderson, sons Owen and Ben Sanderson, parents Dave and Cindy Furda, sisters Lynn Furda and Laura Furda-Raine (Paul), and beloved dogs Zoey and Jerry.

A celebration of life will be held at Hyland Hills Chalet (8800 Chalet Road, Bloomington, MN) on Friday, August 15, with a welcome gathering beginning at 1 p.m., the service starting at 2 p.m, and a reception to follow. Parking at Hyland Hills is limited so please consider carpooling. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kelly Furda Memorial Fund (https://mplsfdn.org/furda), which has been established to support charitable causes that were important to Kelly.
