Hopkins, Minnesota - Kathryn Lockwood Stitt, born January 26, 1927 in Chicago, Illinois, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2026 after a wonderful life, nurtured by the love of family and energized by many lifelong friends. Preceded in death by Calden P. Stitt (Bud), her husband of 54 years, and survived by children: Gail, Jeffrey, and Bryan (Lisa), five grandchildren: Chapin, Andrew (Kelley), Lauren (Justin), Brennan (Jenny), and Brianna (Jesse), and four great-grandchildren: Lydia, Calvin, Lainey, and Forrest.
Kathy attended East Main High School in Park Ridge, Illinois and Colorado College, where she graduated with honors, earning a B.A. in Psychology. She was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority and the Scientific Society of Sigma Delta Epsilon.
Kathy and Bud married soon after graduation. They lived in Denver and Chicago before settling in Minneapolis. Kathy and Bud were longtime members of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, where Kathy was active on Church Council, served a term as the Council Treasurer, and enjoyed weekly Bible study.
Kathy had a 35-year career in real estate and played tennis until she was 85. A lifelong piano player, she had an appreciation for art and classical music. She studied and applied her hand at both ceramics and metal sculpture, and was a frequent volunteer for the Edina Art Center and the Minnesota Orchestra. Her favorite pastime was playing Bridge with different circles of close-knit friends.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday May 9, 2026, at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 500 Blake Road South, Edina. (Visitation 10:00 am, Service 11:00 am). A private interment will follow at Fort Snelling Cemetery. Memorials preferred to Shepherd of the Hills Foundation.
