Maple Grove, MN - Kathryn Ann Riemer left us on July 16, 2025, from Maple Grove, Minnesota, to go play a lively game of 500 with the family members who went before her.

Born on May 20, 1945, in Minneapolis to Chester and Margaret Walberg, Kathy grew up in a spirited, close‑knit family. She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings Bob Schrupp, Steve Walberg, Jo Ellen Joyce, and Janet Rogers; and her son‑in‑law, Kevin Heim. She is survived by several siblings who will carry her memory forward.

At the center of Kathy's life were her five children—Jim O'Meara (Shannon McCarthy), Kelly Miciek (Ken), Katy Grapp (Russ), Deb Miedema (Garrett), and Kim Heim—and the many grandchildren, great‑grandchildren, and "adopted‑in‑love" grandchildren and great‑grandchildren who brought her endless joy. Her home was the heart of huge holiday gatherings, full of laughter, great food, and maybe just a *little* friendly competition.

Kathy loved games of every kind—board games, card games, brain teasers, and logic puzzles. Whether shuffling a 500 deck, dealing out SkipBo cards, or "binking" her Parcheesi opponent, she brought people together through play and laughter.

Kathy spent her professional life in market research, working as a manager and building friendships that lasted far beyond the workplace.

She was progressive in her views and believed deeply in science, choosing to donate her organs and body to the University of Minnesota—a final act of generosity and hope for others.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Friday, September 12, 2025, at noon, at Robbinsdale Parkway United Church of Christ, 4200 Lake Rd Ave, Robbinsdale, MN 55422, with a luncheon to follow. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend, share memories, play a game, and honor a life so beautifully lived.

Instead of flowers, the family welcomes donations to a cause close to your heart—or asks that you gather those you love for a game of 500, SkipBo, or whatever brings you joy, and think of Kathy.
