Kathryn Kay Knutson Obituary

Knutson, Kathryn Kay age 82 passed away at her home in Minneapolis on March 15th. She was born on April 2, 1943 to Lloyd and Marcella (Hubmer) Knutson. She grew up in rural Dodge County. At age 9 she contracted polio and was in a wheelchair the remainder of her life. She graduated from West Concord H. S. in 1961. In 1976 she moved into the Courage Center residence. In 1980, she moved to south Minneapolis where she lived till her death. Kay along with Mary Lindgren and others were founding and lasting members of the "intentional community" where she lived. She operated her own accounting business for thirty-five years. She was a patron of the Minnesota Orchestra, the Guthrie Theater and the Minneapolis Institute of Arts for 35 years. She attended Camp Courage each summer for nearly 50 years. She was an associate member of our Saviors Church Minneapolis and life long member of the West Concord United Methodist Church, the mid town green way Coalition of Minneapolis and served for more than thirty years on the Board of Director of Accessible Space Incorporated. She is survived by her significant other Paul Chapman as well as many friends and relatives. Memorial Service and fellowship will be held at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, 2315 Chicago Ave. So. Minneapolis, MN on Sunday, March 23rd from 1:00 to 4:00pm.
