Karen Nan Malver Obituary

Mpls - 82, of Minneapolis MN, passed away on February 27, 2026 at N.C. Little Memorial Hospice in Edina MN. Karen was born in Chicago, IL, to RoseAnn and Albert Kane on March 11, 1943. She went to high school at Duluth East and graduated in 1961. She went on to earn a B.S. Degree in Language Arts Education from the University of Minnesota, and a M.A. degree in School Library Media from St. Cloud State University. She worked as a teacher for 20 years. She enjoyed hiking, biking, reading and discussing books, camping, live theater and classical music. She was involved in volunteer work in the Mounds View School District, League of Women Voters, Temple Israel and the Communication Center of the State Services for the Blind. Karen is survived by her sons, Aaron of Seattle, Michael (Patti Sanner) of St. Paul, and David of Minneapolis; sister, Michele (Richard) Sterner; brother, Jonathan (Janet Mertz) Kane; sister-in-law, Sandra (Dr. Stephen) Goodman; brother-in-law, Sherman (Eva Jansen) Schapiro; as well as cousins, niece and nephews and their children. She is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Fred Malver; and parents, RoseAnn and Albert Kane. Funeral service will be held at TEMPLE ISRAEL, 2323 Fremont Ave. S., Minneapolis on FRIDAY, March 6th at 11:30 am, also available via Zoom at: www.hodroffs.com/KarenMalver

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held Saturday, March 7th, from 2-5 pm, at Stonebridge Lofts, 2nd Floor Community Room, 1120 S. 2nd Street, Minneapolis. Memorial donations may be made to Temple Israel, 2323 Fremont Ave. S., Communication Center of the State Services for the Blind, 2200 University Ave. Suite 240, St. Paul MN 55114, or the donor's preferred charity.
