Walter, Judy Dianne passed away peacefully on March 18th, 2025 at the age of 80. Born on April 18th, 1944 in Minneapolis, Judy touched the lives of so many and will be deeply missed. Judy was the beloved wife of Bill Walter for 58 years, with whom she shared a lifetime of love and cherished memories. They met as college sweethearts at the University of Minnesota and remained lifelong dedicated Gopher fans. Together, they enjoyed exploring internationally and visiting countless National Parks, sharing many adventures with their children, grandchildren, extended family and dear friends. She also cherished her time on the North Shore and on Sanibel Island. Judy was a loving mother to David and Matthew and a caring and devoted grandmother to Ellie, Drew, Jack, Avery, Emma, and Annie. Her family meant everything to her, and she found great joy in spending time with them. Judy dedicated over 35 years to teaching, primarily in Minneapolis Public Schools, touching the lives of countless students who she always referred to as her kids. She began her career as an elementary school teacher near Navy bases in Bermuda and Ventura, California before earning her master's degree to teach English as a Second Language (ESL) in Minneapolis Public Schools. She loved entertaining and hosting family and friends, and she treasured the time with her walking group and book clubs. She will be remembered for her kindness, joyful spirit, adventurous heart, dedication to teaching and her selfless devotion to her family and friends. Judy is survived by her loving husband Bill, her sons David (Kara) and Matthew (Julie), her six grandchildren, sister Barbara Brown and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Venetia and Howard Johnson. A memorial service to celebrate Judy's life will be held on March 24th at 11 am at Mount Olivet Lutheran Church in Minneapolis with a visitation prior to the service from 10 - 11am.
