Judith Ann Hansen (Judy) Obituary
Mpls, MN - 1/9/1936 - 9/30/2025
Judith "Judy" Hansen lived a long and deeply meaningful life, filled with love, faith, and devotion to family. Born in Minneapolis to Doree Odell Pommer and Helen Marie Pommer, Judy grew up with a strong sense of responsibility and compassion for others that would define her life.
Judy was the very embodiment of a caregiver. At just 18, after the unexpected loss of her father, she stepped up to care for her mother. She also provided loving support for her sister throughout her life, until Diane's passing in 2010, and her husband Jim, who passed in 2023. Judy's care and selflessness touched everyone around her.
She graduated from Washburn High School in Minneapolis and met her husband, Jim, while working at her father's business, Pommer & Company. They married in 1957 and shared a true love for the outdoors, adventure, and commitment to family. They moved to Bloomington, MN and raised their 3 children, Thomas, Catherine, and Elizabeth.
Professionally, Judy found her "calling" at Marathon Foods, where she was a successful food broker. She enjoyed her work, but it was also a career that supported her well-known love of chocolate! She had many passions—bridge, golf, travel, knitting, cross-country skiing, faith, and friends, but nothing brought her more joy than spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was the heart of every family gathering.
In retirement, she and Jim treasured their time on the North Shore, which was their second home. They created many lasting memories, including Christmas tree hunts in the forest, hiking, golfing, playing games, cribbage, puzzling, and truly enjoying and making memories with their family. Jim and Judy were great examples of not only loving parents, but a true love and devotion to each other.
Judy was preceded in death by her loving husband Jim Hansen, parents, Doree and Helen Pommer, and her sister, Diane Pommer. She is survived by her sister, Nanette Brown; her children, Tom Hansen (Gina), Catherine Lynch (Bill), Elizabeth Klauda (Mike); and her grandchildren: James Hansen (Annie), Danielle Hansen, Andru Lynch, Austin Lynch (Rachel), Emili Klauda, and Elli Klauda.
Judy's legacy of love, strength, and generosity will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
There will be a private memorial service for Judy at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Eden Prairie, MN. Memorials preferred to the VA or Opportunity Partners.
