She attended Morgan State University prior to a brief tenure in the U.S. Air Force. Stationed in Texas, she met and married James Thomas Fuller, Jr. James' Air Force career resulted in the family living in several locations including Columbus, OH, where the couple's oldest daughter, Tonya was born; then Louisiana, where both Pamela and James III were born.
