Mpls, MN - Jon Berni Albrightson, 88, of Minneapolis, MN, passed away on June 5, 2026. He was a devoted husband, loving father, loyal friend, and a man whose warmth and kindness touched everyone who knew him.

Jon was born on May 13, 1938, in New Richmond, WI, to Paul and Bernice Albrightson. He grew up alongside his sisters, Diane and Sonya, before moving to Minneapolis, where he would spend the rest of his life. He attended the University of Minnesota, where he played the cornet in the marching band and was a proud member of Beta Theta Pi. After serving in the military during the Berlin Crisis, Jon returned to the U of M to attend law school and went on to practice law for more than 40 years.

Jon lived a full and vibrant life, defined by his gift for friendships and his love for many activities. He enjoyed walking to many sunsets over the Gulf, carrying his golf clubs down the fairway, water skiing, snow skiing, and biking in Europe. A few of his favorite things are the Naples Pier, Medicine Lake, Steamboat Springs, downtown Minneapolis, the daily comics, the Minnesota State Fair, his well-worn Birkenstocks, the Golden Gophers, a stylish bow tie, a red convertible with the top down, running marathons, and a large picture window filled with natural light and a beautiful view. Most of all, Jon cherished time spent with family and friends. He will be remembered for warm conversations over coffee, many, many enjoyable Happy Hours, and his genuine interest in people around him. In a world that can use more kindness, positivity, and laughter, Jon's absence will be felt by all who knew him.

Jon is survived by Jean, his beloved wife of 59 years; his children, Kristofer and Lucy; and his sister, Diane. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Bernice, and his sister, Sonya.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 17, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Mount Olivet Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. A "Happy Hour" reception will follow at Pinstripes in Edina. If desired, in lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the University of Minnesota Marching Band.
