John Edward McMahon (Jack) MD

November 18, 1932 - February 17, 2025

Jack Jack Edward McMahon

John Edward McMahon (Jack) M.D., age 92, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2025, with his family by his side. Jack was born to John and Regina McMahon on November 18, 1932, and, together with his three sisters, was raised in Grand Rapids Minnesota, a place he loved all his life and where he had the great good fortune of meeting the beautiful Mary Margaret Reisinger from Nashwauk Mn.

Mary Margaret and Jack married in 1957 and moved to Milwaukee Wisconsin, where Jack attended medical school and started his family with the alarming arrival of twins, who were followed over the next several years with 4 more children.

After the completion of Jack's medical training and military service, the family settled in the Twin Cities area. Jack practiced as an orthopedic surgeon and was an innovator and leader in total hip replacement surgery, until his retirement at age 68.

Jack loved life and lived it fully. He adored his wife, his large and continually growing family, his work, and his many friends. He was curious and funny and interested in everyone he met. He loved adventure, whether he and Mary Margaret were traveling the world, skiing in the Rockies, or "working" at the cabin. He loved playing the piano, and played every day he could with passion and joy. He was a storyteller, a thinker, a man with a great sense of humor and a wonderful husband and father.

Jack is survived by his wife, Mary Margaret, children, Mary McMahon, Margaret Poley, Siobhan McMahon, John McMahon, Patrick McMahon and Molly Keeley as well as 15 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Funeral plans are pending and will be posted in the future.

Plant a tree: How does it work

When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.

An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.

After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.

Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.
