John Duane Engberg Obituary

Bloomington - Longtime Bloomington resident and retired volunteer fireman. Proud husband to Sue of 52 years, a loving Dad to Kim (Lonnie) Rimpson, Kristin (Eric) Johnson, Kara (Dave) Johnson. Grandfather to Dexter, Sarah Rimpson Muhammad (Abdel), Annelise, Lena Johnson. Duane was preceded in death by his parents Eddy and Gladys; sister Joan. Duane loved the outdoors and his favorite time of the year was deer season - a time to get out in the woods with his buddies. An avid outdoorsman, he fished in the frozen lakes of Minnesota and the warm waters of Mexico and Hawaii. Duane was the funniest guy in the room - the party-starter, the prankster, the adventurer, the boondoggler, the "up for anything" guy. In honor of his life, have a beer, spend time with your friends, play pull-tabs and the meat raffle, love your family, work hard and yell at the Twins and Vikings! Memorial service Thursday, May 7th, 2026 at 2 PM ~ Gill Brothers Bloomington Chapel, 9947 Lyndale Ave So. Visitation one hour prior. Private interment at Ft. Snelling Nat'l Cemetery.
